The Official Resource for Janusz Korczak
An Introduction to the inspirational words of Janusz Korczak
Janusz Korczak was the founder and principle of two orphanages in Warsaw. During his lifetime he was both renowned and loved as a doctor, writer, educator and fighter for the rights of the child. He devoted his life to the needs and plight of children regardless of nationality and religion, even to the point of refusing to abandon his Jewish orphans when they were taken to the death camps of Treblinka. He refused to desert them so that even as they died the children would be able to maintain their trust in him. His writings about children and education have been translated into more than twenty languages. Until 1998 (Date?) there was no English translation of his work and I felt very strongly and passionately about letting the world know about this amazing man. This set me on a path so inspiring and heart warming, to translate his works into English, along the way meeting some amazing people and listening to extraordinary stories. The culmination of my work is in my two books, A Voice for the Child and Loving Every Child. With backing from the NSPCC, I truly hope that the inspirational words of Janusz Korczak will become as dear and close to your hearts as it has to mine. Sandra Joseph [email protected] |
